Top Ten Things to Do in Michigan

The Top Ten Things to Do in Michigan

Yes, these are bulleted for a reason…

How can you possibly rate these Michigan activities?? Everything is so fun and exciting! I hope you all get to try ALL of them and love them as much as I do! Enjoy!

  • Hiking
    • If you’re into hiking, you’re in the right place. If you’re really into hiking, you’re REALLY in the right place. Michigan has an enormous amount of hiking trails- so many that I couldn’t possibly name them all! They can be found throughout the whole state, but from my experience, the further north the better. Some of these places include but are NOT limited to:
      • Sleeping Bear Dunes (see previous blog post!)
      • The abundance of skiing hills we have (IF they allow you)
      • North Country Trail
      • Pictured Rocks
      • Mackinac Island
        • I want to say a little bit about this one! Mackinac Island is an amazing place with a lot of history, but what many fail to realize is that it is in abundance of gorgeous trails to hike or even bike through wooded areas and sometimes near the lakeshore. It’s not just a crowded little tourist town! 🙂
  • Skiing and Snowboarding
    • This one is a given. It snows…and it snows…and it snows a little bit more.. here in Michigan. If you’re a skier or snowboarder or aspire to learn, you have most definitely visited the right place. There are opportunities to take lessons and ride the bunny hill, or hit the black diamonds just about everywhere. This is a perfect activity for the whole family. Here are some of my favorite slopes:
      • Crystal Mountain
      • Boyne Mountain
      • Caberfae Peaks
  • Ice Skating
    • Ice skating can be found all over the state! From indoor rinks, to outdoor rinks, to lakes, you better be lacing up because that stuff is FUN.

  • Lakes, Lakes, Lakes!
    • Well it isn’t called the Great Lake State for nothing! Besides the large (and often cold BRR!) great lakes, Michigan is spotted with smaller, warmer lakes of all kinds. Michiganders enjoy:
      • Boating
      • Tubing
      • Paddleboarding
      • Kayaking
      • Canoeing
      • Swimming
      • Fishing

  • River Trips
    • This is definitely one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Grab a group of friends, pack a cooler, and hit the tubes for a relaxing day floating down one of Michigan’s slow moving rivers. My favorite place to go is the Manistee River! You can plan a trip by visiting this website:
  • Go Up North!
    • You’re gonna have to do a little research to pick a destination for this one! I couldn’t possibly recommend one place over another; I love every single up north town that I visit!
  • Festivals
    • Blueberry, Cherry, Beer and Wine, Bavarian Festival, you name it! We got it! Festivals are the perfect excuses for day trips.
  • Camping
    • Michigan is spotted with amazing campgrounds. Choose one on the lake for a lot of summer fun!img_20160902_071949367_hdr
  • Farmers Markets
    • These are amazing because we have the ability to choose locally grown food and support our local farmers! Check online wherever you’re visiting for dates and times!
  • Biking
    • This is another one of my personal favorites. Biking in Michigan is a perfect way to get exercise while enjoying the abundance of scenery that Michigan has to offer. You can also find biking trails all over, and even at some campgrounds.

Adventure on!
